Area (ft)

Quick fill:

How do I measure this?
  1. Run a tape measure along one wall at floor level - that's the length.
  2. Measure the wall at a right angle to it - that's the width. For an L-shaped room, split it into rectangles and add them up.
  3. Write both numbers down before you shop - a phone photo of the tape works great.

Presets are rough starters - measure your real room before ordering.

Herringbone paver paving with a price tag - paver installation cost calculator

How to estimate

  1. Measure the area you're covering - length × width.
  2. Pick the grade or material that matches your project.
  3. Read the estimated installed cost range for your area.

What drives the cost

  • Paver material - concrete pavers are cheapest; clay brick and interlocking pavers cost more, natural stone (travertine, flagstone) and porcelain most.
  • Base preparation - excavation, a compacted gravel base and bedding sand are most of the labor; pavers are only about 20% of the budget.
  • Pattern and cuts - herringbone, circles, borders and curved edges need more cutting than a straight running bond.
  • Application - a driveway needs a thicker, stronger base than a walkway or patio, raising the rate.
  • Edge restraint and joints - plastic or concrete edging and polymeric joint sand lock the field in and add cost.
  • Local labor rates - the biggest regional swing.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to install pavers?
Installed, concrete pavers run about $10–$17 per square foot (pavers + base + labor), brick and interlocking pavers $14–$24, and natural stone or porcelain $20–$40. A 12×16 ft (192 ft²) concrete-paver patio lands roughly $1,900–$3,300. Enter your area above.
Why is labor most of the paver cost?
The pavers themselves are only about 20% of the budget. The other 80% is excavation, a compacted gravel base, bedding sand, cutting, laying and jointing - labor alone runs $6–$11 per square foot.
Are pavers more expensive than a poured concrete slab?
Yes upfront - a plain concrete slab runs about $6–$15/ft² versus $10–$24 for pavers. But pavers resist cracking and individual units can be lifted and reset, so many owners find them cheaper to maintain over time.
Why is this only an estimate?
Paver type, base depth, pattern, application (patio vs driveway) and local labor all move the price. Use this national-average range as a starting point, then get local quotes.
