How much mulch you need
Mulch volume is simply the bed area multiplied by the depth. A 2–3 inch (5–8 cm) layer suits most beds. Volume is shown in cubic yards (or cubic metres); divide by your bag size to get the number of bags. Bulk mulch is usually cheaper than bags above about 3 cubic yards.
